Simple Budget Systems
I didn’t start Simple Budget Systems because I had money figured out.
I started it because I didn’t.
For a long time, I was working two jobs and still couldn’t understand where my money was going. I was constantly counting pennies, moving bills around, trying to stretch everything just a little further.
It felt like I was that Aflac duck in the commercial — running around frantically trying to plug holes in a sinking boat… only for more holes to keep popping up.
Eventually, I ran out of ways to plug the holes.
And that’s when I realized something:
The problem wasn’t effort.
It wasn’t laziness.
It wasn’t even income.
It was the system.

What Changed
Most budgeting advice assumes you:
• Have extra money
• Have time to track every dollar perfectly
• Love spreadsheets
• Or have predictable income
That wasn’t my life.
I didn’t need a complicated financial plan.
I needed something simple enough to follow while exhausted.
Clear enough to use between shifts.
Realistic enough to work when money was tight.
So I started simplifying everything.
Not cutting lattes.
Not shaming myself.
Not pretending the math wasn’t hard.
Just building small systems that made sense.
And slowly — the holes stopped multiplying.
